I ran the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) and the results said I had bad files, but I don't know how to fix them. I tried renaming the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder. I download the system readiness tool, found here: I tried resetting the Windows Update reset tool, using "MicrosoftFixit50202", found here: I downloaded the windowsupdatediagnostic.diagcab, found on Microsoft's site, here: I Googled the error code "8007007E" and tried a few things to try and fix it. I managed to get it to check for updates, but now when it starts the process, I get the following: Sounded reasonable so I fired up Windows Update but that gave me an error and wouldn't start checking for updates.
I un-installed it and tried downloading a fresh copy and I get the following error:Īfter some Googling, I read that not having the latest Windows. It made me update it in order to use it, but I got an error. Originally, all I wanted to do was use iTunes.
This laptop has been in storage and hasn't been turned on in a year. I'm running Windows 7 Pro on my Dell laptop.
